BLACKSBURG Lions Recycle for Sight Program ...

Last fall the Blacksburg Breakfast Lions Club began the collection of glasses in several locations in Blacksburg. Our first collection netted 191 glasses and 16 prescription sunglasses. WE JUST HAd OUR LARGEST COLLECTION OF 425 GLASSES AND 52 PRESCRIPTION SUNGLASSES.

Glasses are collected and brought to Roanoke Lions Club where they are sanitized, then prescriptions are read, and the glasses are added to Lion's inventory. From there they are distributed to medical and optical missions worldwide. Even damaged, unusable glasses are recycled for metal or scrap. Readers can be recycled in the United States.
